We know you love your jewelry and that’s awesome. It has meaning…symbolizes your connections to the people in your life…expresses your style…and makes you feel good while you wear it. In short…your jewelry is precious to you…particularly your engagement and wedding rings.
And that is why I beg you:
Please don’t wear your jewelry to the gym!
We understand that you feel “naked” when you’re not wearing your favorite pieces, but I have to tell you that no matter how well a piece of jewelry is made, it simply won’t stand up to the torturous devices found in most gyms.
I watched a woman throwing kettle bells around this morning and her poor wedding ring was right there with her…silently absorbing the weight and pressure of a butt-burning workout.
Precious metals are amazingly resilient, but they are not indestructible as many of you know. In fact, routine maintenance is a part of owning most things of value…but working out with your jewelry accelerates that process and can result in some pretty hefty repair costs.
Just DON’T Do It.
Our advice? Leave your jewelry at home when you go the gym. It will last longer, look better, and be waiting for you to put back on when you’re done. (Just like your size 6 dress that’s just over the horizon.)
FOOTNOTE: If you just can’t bear to leave your jewelry at home we have 2 gifted bench jewelers that can fix your jewelry’s breaks, bumps and bruises. It’s amazing what they can do, and we’ll show you how it’s done in future posts.
